Sugar Factory Closes Jacksonville Location Following Health Violations

Sugar Factory American Brasserie has permanently closed its location at The Markets at Town Center in Jacksonville, Florida, after three years of operation. The closure follows a temporary shutdown initiated by a state inspector due to 21 health violations, including significant rodent activity.

On June 19, patrons arriving at the restaurant found it locked, with a sign announcing the closure. The sign expressed gratitude to the Jacksonville community for their support during its tenure.

The restaurant had previously been temporarily closed on June 8 after an inspection revealed 52 rodent droppings in various areas of the kitchen and food storage. Follow-up inspections on June 9 and 10 extended the closure to allow for corrections of multiple issues. By June 12, some violations had been addressed, but the restaurant ultimately did not reopen.

Sugar Factory, known for its extravagant desserts and celebrity-endorsed drinks, opened in late March 2020 at 4910 Big Island Drive, taking over the space previously occupied by Brio Tuscan Grille. Other Sugar Factory locations in Florida, including those in Miami Beach, Orlando, and Tampa, remain operational.
