Repeat Robbery Attempt Leads to Arrest in Fort Worth

Fort Worth police arrested 43-year-old Christopher McKay on Thursday after he allegedly attempted to rob the same Fort Worth bank he was convicted of robbing nine years earlier.

Officers said McKay entered a bank in the 8800 block of Camp Bowie West Boulevard around 10 a.m. He claimed he had a gun and demanded money, but he left the bank empty-handed and fled on foot.

Police searched the surrounding area and located McKay nearby. Officers took him into custody without reported incident. He now faces a charge of aggravated robbery.

Arrest Followed Identification by Family Member

According to police, a family member identified McKay based on a cowboy hat he wore during one of the robberies. Investigators used that information to help confirm his identity before the arrest.

The report states that McKay did not display a weapon during the attempted robbery but claimed to have one when demanding money. No injuries were reported, and no money was taken from the bank.

Prior Conviction at the Same Fort Worth Bank

Court records show that McKay was arrested nine years ago for robbing the same bank. He was later convicted and served seven years in federal prison for that offense.

Authorities confirmed that both the prior conviction and Thursday’s attempted robbery involved the same location on Camp Bowie West Boulevard. Police said the information in the case is supported by Fort Worth Police Department reports and Tarrant County court documents.

The new charge of aggravated robbery remains pending as the investigation continues.
