Police Seek Mother Who Fled After Early Morning Crash Injures Children in Los Angeles

A serious crash near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) early Tuesday morning left four children injured, one critically, and prompted an urgent search for the woman believed to have been behind the wheel — the children's mother — who fled the scene on foot.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 9600 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). At the time of the crash, there were six occupants in the vehicle: four children and two adults. The driver reportedly lost control and struck the center median before abandoning the crash site.

Driver Fled With Children to a Second Location

Instead of waiting for emergency responders, the woman believed to be the driver — and the mother of the children — allegedly took the children and fled the scene on foot. She reportedly brought them to a second location nearly 15 miles away at 1400 E. 59th Place, where emergency services were eventually called.

Paramedics transported the four children to a nearby hospital, with one child suffering serious injuries. One of the two adults in the vehicle also sustained injuries and was hospitalized.

Police Continue Search for the Mother

As of Tuesday afternoon, the LAPD is still working to locate the mother. Her identity has not been publicly disclosed, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not confirmed whether impairment, speeding, or other factors contributed to the collision.

The crash has raised questions about child endangerment, and investigators are expected to pursue all possible charges once the suspect is located. The condition of the children, aside from the one listed as seriously injured, has not been updated.

Residents near both crash sites were urged to come forward with any relevant information or surveillance footage that may aid in the investigation.
