Jyolikot-Karnaprayag NH Sees Horrific Road Accident as Car Rams Truck One Dead Three Injured
A late-night drive turned tragic on the Jyolikot-Karnaprayag National Highway when a speeding car crashed into the rear of a truck, claiming the life of a 16-year-old boy and leaving three others seriously injured.
The accident occurred near Gethia Padav, where the car carrying four young men slammed into a slow-moving truck that was reportedly allowing another vehicle to pass. The impact was devastating, and the crash sent shockwaves through the quiet hillside area.
According to initial reports, the vehicle was being driven by one of the youths, and the group—Lokesh Pataliya, Pankaj Pataliya, Manas alias Raj Rawat, and Garv Bagadwal—was on their way toward Gethia Padav from Kuriyagaon. It's suspected that either the brakes failed or the accelerator was mistakenly pressed at the wrong moment, causing the car to lose control and collide forcefully with the truck.
Local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash, pulling the injured out of the mangled vehicle. Emergency services were alerted, and the police arrived swiftly to coordinate rescue efforts. All four were immediately transported to a hospital in Haldwani, but tragically, 16-year-old Garv Bagadwal succumbed to his injuries before reaching the facility.
Manas, one of the severely injured passengers, has since been referred to AIIMS in Haridwar for advanced treatment. Lokesh and Pankaj are currently undergoing care in Haldwani, and both remain under medical observation.
The incident has left the local community in mourning, particularly as the victims were all young and well-known in their village. It has also reignited concerns about road safety on the often treacherous mountain highways, especially during late hours when visibility is low and emergency response times can be longer.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the crash. Meanwhile, the tragic loss of a young life stands as a stark reminder of how quickly a moment on the road can turn fatal.
