Kerrville Drive-By Shooting Injures 18-Year-Old Woman Outside Home

Police say shots were fired toward a home on West Schreiner Street

KERRVILLE, Texas — An 18-year-old woman was injured in a Kerrville drive-by shooting Friday night after gunfire was directed at a home in the 300 block of West Schreiner Street, according to the Kerrville Police Department.

The shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. while the woman was sitting inside a parked vehicle outside the residence, police said in a public statement. Investigators said a vehicle drove past the home and someone inside that vehicle fired several rounds toward the property.

Several people were in the yard when the shots were fired, police said. At least one bullet entered the home, underscoring the danger faced by those at the residence even though no other injuries were reported.

Victim flown to San Antonio hospital

The injured woman was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in San Antonio, police said. Authorities did not release her name or provide details about the extent of her injuries. Her condition had not been publicly updated as of the latest police statement.

The department said it does not believe there is an ongoing threat to the general public. That assessment is preliminary, however, as detectives continue working to determine who fired the shots and the circumstances that led to the attack.

Drive-by shootings can create a broad risk beyond an intended target, particularly when rounds are fired toward occupied homes and vehicles. In this case, police said people were outside in the yard and a round entered the residence, though authorities have not said whether the shooting was targeted or whether any suspects have been identified.
