Explosion in Monaco Injures Three, Two Critically

Three people were injured, two of them critically, following an explosion at a residential building in Monaco on Rue Révérend Père Louis Frolla, near the border with France. The blast occurred shortly before 21:00 local time on Monday, reportedly caused by an explosive device containing bolts and pellets, according to Minister of State Christophe Mirmand.

Emergency services responded swiftly, deploying over 100 police and emergency personnel to the scene. The Monaco government stated that a suspect was captured on video surveillance fleeing towards France. Mirmand indicated that it is 'very likely an attack' and confirmed that the injured individuals were transported to a hospital in Nice, France.

This incident marks a significant event in Monaco's history, as Mirmand noted it is the first time such an act has occurred in the principality. Prince Albert II condemned the act as a 'heinous crime' and emphasized that all relevant state services are collaborating with French authorities. An update from officials is expected on Tuesday.
