Wisconsin Man Charged With Kidnapping Roommate at Knifepoint Before Michigan Arrest
A 26-year-old man faces charges of unlawful imprisonment and receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle after allegedly kidnapping his roommate at knifepoint in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and fleeing to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Michigan State Police arrested the suspect in Kincheloe, Michigan, following a multi-agency response on Tuesday.
According to state police, the Green Bay Police Department alerted Michigan troopers that the suspect had stolen a vehicle and was believed to be traveling toward Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Troopers later located the stolen vehicle, which had broken down, abandoned near the intersection of Michigan Highway 28 and Michigan Highway 221. Investigators determined that after the vehicle disabled, the suspect and his roommate hitchhiked to nearby Kincheloe.
The arrest occurred after the roommate ran into a Dollar General store in Kincheloe and asked the cashier to call 911, stating he had been kidnapped. Law enforcement officers responded to the area and located the suspect inside a local pizza restaurant, where he was taken into custody.
Investigators allege the suspect forced his roommate into the stolen vehicle in Wisconsin and threatened him with a knife to compel him to travel to Michigan. The suspect is currently being held on a $250,000 bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for June 22. Authorities have contacted the owner of the stolen vehicle to arrange its return.
