Russian Strikes in Dnipro Leave Five Dead and Dozens Injured, Officials Report
At least five people were killed and 46 wounded in a series of Russian drone and missile strikes on Dnipro, Ukraine, according to regional authorities on Saturday. Dnipropetrovsk regional head Oleksandr Hanzha stated that four bodies were recovered from the ruins of a house destroyed during overnight attacks, which also caused fires and damaged several apartment buildings, businesses, and a private residence.
Hanzha reported that another person died in a separate Russian attack in the same residential area of Dnipro on Saturday afternoon. The total number of wounded from the attacks stands at 46, he said.
Elsewhere, two people were injured in overnight drone strikes on Ukraine's Odesa region, where residential buildings, port infrastructure, and vehicles sustained damage, according to regional head Oleh Kiper.
In Russia's Belgorod region, local officials said a Ukrainian drone strike killed one woman and seriously injured a man. Meanwhile, Romania's Defense Ministry reported finding drone fragments in a residential area of Galati, near the border with Ukraine, but no injuries were reported. Authorities in Romania have previously confirmed the presence of drone debris on their territory.
The attacks came after a prisoner exchange on Friday, in which Russia and Ukraine swapped 193 service members. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday that Ukraine remains open to further peace talks with Russia, including potential negotiations in Azerbaijan.
