White Sox Offense Ignites Behind Murakami’s Power Surge in Win Over Diamondbacks

The Chicago White Sox unleashed a dominant offensive display in Phoenix on Tuesday night, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-5 and extending their recent stretch of power hitting. Munetaka Murakami highlighted the performance with a 426-foot home run in the second inning, marking his fourth consecutive game going deep and bringing his season total to nine—just one short of the MLB lead.

Murakami’s blast kicked off a rare sequence: teammates Miguel Vargas and Colson Montgomery followed with home runs of their own, giving the White Sox three consecutive long balls for the first time since September 2020. The offensive barrage continued with Montgomery also adding a two-run double.

Rookie Sam Antonacci delivered his first career home run in the ninth inning on an inside-the-park grounder down the left-field line, a play that sparked confusion when a staff member appeared to touch the ball. Although Arizona objected, the umpires ruled the play stood and could not be challenged.

On the mound, Sean Burke earned the win for Chicago with six solid innings, limiting Arizona to two runs on five hits. Over the past four games, the White Sox have piled up 33 runs and 11 home runs, capitalizing on strong contributions throughout the lineup.

The surge in offense comes as Jordan Hicks continues to impress out of the bullpen, now averaging 98.4 mph on his fastball since joining the team. Hicks, who made his reputation with a 104-mph heater as a rookie in St. Louis, says he’s still aiming to reach triple digits more consistently.

Meanwhile, in the minors, top outfield prospect Braden Montgomery was named Southern League Player of the Week after a torrid stretch at Double-A Birmingham, hinting at more young talent rising through the organization.

The White Sox will look to maintain their offensive momentum as their series against the Diamondbacks continues. No injuries were reported, and the team’s recent hitting success has injected new energy into the roster.
