Body of Missing Perth Woman Found at The Gap in Albany After Extensive Search

The body of a Perth woman missing since last week was found in the early hours of Monday morning at The Gap, a tourist site in Albany, Western Australia, according to police.

Naomi Marie Duckett, 51, was last seen on April 2 at approximately 11:45 a.m. in Torndirrup National Park. She had travelled alone from Perth to Albany on April 1 and was reported missing the following day.

Western Australia Police, along with multiple agencies including volunteer marine rescue teams, the police air wing, drones, and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, coordinated a large-scale search over the Easter weekend. The operation covered both land and sea in the national park, focusing on The Gap and surrounding areas.

Authorities closed The Gap, Natural Bridge, and Cable Beach during the search, also evacuating visitors to ensure search teams could operate safely. CCTV footage confirmed Ms Duckett’s presence in the area, and police appealed for information from tourists who may have seen her.

The active search was scaled back on Sunday morning around 11 a.m. Police confirmed Ms Duckett’s body was located in the early hours of Monday. According to a police spokesperson, her death is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be prepared for the Coroner as is standard in such cases.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the cause of death. The area has since reopened to visitors.
