Three Charged After Santana Row Assault Alleged to Involve Antisemitic Slurs

On March 18, 2026, prosecutors announced criminal charges in connection with a Santana Row assault that left two people injured after an exchange outside a downtown restaurant on March 8. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office has filed a mix of felony and misdemeanor counts against three men identified by investigators.

Authorities say video shows three men striking two victims who were knocked to the pavement; the surveillance recording does not capture audio. One victim reported to officers that a suspect used anti-Jewish language and believed the pair were targeted after speaking Hebrew. The victims were treated at the scene for head pain, cuts and abrasions and declined hospital transport. Investigators identified the suspects through surveillance footage, witness statements and matching social media images.

Charged are Bruneil Henry Chamaki, 32, and brothers Roma Akoyans, 20, and Ramon Akoyans, 18. Prosecutors say the current filings do not include hate crime enhancements, though investigators are evaluating whether to pursue misdemeanor civil rights charges under Penal Code 442.6. Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen said his office will not tolerate violence in public spaces. The case is scheduled for arraignment on May 12, 2026, and the investigation remains active.
