Columbus Woman Pleads Guilty in Four Ohio Murder Cases

Guilty Plea Entered in Columbus Murder Case

On December 19, 2023, 33-year-old Rebecca Auborn pleaded guilty in Ohio to four counts of murder and one count of felonious assault, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. The case involves the deaths of four men in northeast Columbus, Ohio.

Details of the Criminal Conduct

Authorities stated that Auborn was indicted in October 2023 after police reported that she intentionally caused the overdose of one man and the fatal overdoses of four others in northeast Columbus. Investigators said Auborn would meet the men for sex and then drug them so she could steal their belongings.

During the investigation, authorities reported that they linked Auborn to an attempted overdose in December 2022. They further connected her to four fatal overdoses that occurred between January 2023 and June 2023.

Investigation and Law Enforcement Cooperation

The investigation began when the Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force received information that a woman was allegedly meeting men for sex and dosing them with the intent to rob them. The Ohio Attorney General’s office stated that detectives from the Columbus Division of Police, which leads the task force, conducted the investigation alongside the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Attorney General Yost described the plea to four counts of murder as an example of inter-agency cooperation. He said that the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and his office worked closely with the Columbus Division of Police and produced what he characterized as an airtight investigation. Yost stated that this work led to Auborn admitting guilt to the crimes.

Next Steps in Court Proceedings

Attorney General Yost said that Rebecca Auborn will be sentenced on the morning of February 20, 2024. No additional sentencing details were provided in the announcement.
