Four Adults Arrested for Child Endangerment in Hamden, Ohio
Authorities arrested four adults on felony child endangerment charges after 16 children were discovered in dire conditions at a home in Hamden, Ohio, on Tuesday. The Ohio Bureau of Investigation and local sheriff’s department found the children, aged between 1.5 and 18 years, in what officials described as 'deplorable' conditions, with several requiring serious medical attention.
The arrested individuals, identified as Gary Siders Jr., Gary Siders Sr., Christina Siders, and Elizabeth Siders, have not yet been arraigned. Vinton County Prosecuting Attorney William Archer stated that they face second-degree felony charges due to the involvement of 'serious physical harm.' The adults reportedly were not local residents and appeared to have been traveling.
Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson characterized the scene as the worst he has encountered in his career, emphasizing the severity of the conditions in which the children were found. Two of the children were flown to level one trauma centers for treatment. Officials confirmed that the situation did not involve human trafficking.
The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement executing a secondary search warrant at the residence. The four adults are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning.
