Body Recovered After Car Enters Ohio River
Body Recovered in Louisville River Incident
Louisville Metro Police recovered a body on Monday after locating a car that went into the Ohio River on Saturday near Joe's Crab Shack in Louisville.
Police received reports around 7:30 p.m. Saturday from a tugboat that a car had driven off the waterfront. Louisville Metro Police ground units searched the area while Louisville Fire deployed a boat to assist.
Search and Recovery Efforts
Crews located the vehicle around 9 p.m. Saturday, but no one was found inside. Due to fast river currents, the search was suspended that night.
The search resumed Monday. At approximately 5:50 p.m., the Louisville Police River Unit located the vehicle again and recovered the body of an adult inside.
Investigation Underway
Police stated they do not yet know whether the individual was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. Officials also said it remains unknown whether the vehicle entered the water accidentally or intentionally.
The Louisville Metro Police Homicide Unit has opened a death investigation into the incident. No additional information has been released at this time.
