11-Year-Old Robbed While Walking Home From School in Philadelphia’s Chinatown
An 11-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint while walking home from school in Philadelphia’s Chinatown on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred in the 900 block of Cherry Street at around 3:30 p.m., shortly after schools in the area had been dismissed for the day.
According to Philadelphia police, the boy was targeted by at least three assailants while he was passing through an alley. The suspects confronted him and demanded his belongings. Police said the attackers threatened to shoot the boy if he did not comply. Out of fear for his safety, the child handed over his possessions.
The robbers fled with approximately $300 in cash and the boy’s phone. The incident left the boy shaken, though he was not physically harmed. Police confirmed that the suspects quickly left the area, and no arrests have been reported.
A nearby witness recounted that the boy ran into a hair salon immediately after the robbery. She explained that the child told those inside that he had just been robbed and was visibly upset. The woman quickly called police to report the incident.
Philadelphia police officers responded to the scene and have launched an investigation. Authorities stated that Chinatown is equipped with numerous surveillance cameras, and officers are now reviewing available footage in an effort to identify and locate the suspects. No descriptions of the attackers have been released at this stage.
The case has drawn attention because of the young age of the victim and the timing of the incident, which happened in broad daylight as children were leaving school. Law enforcement officials stressed that the investigation is active and ongoing.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact Philadelphia police.
