Mississippi Man Convicted of Murder Faces Sentencing in San Antonio

A Mississippi man convicted of murdering his co-worker will learn his sentence this afternoon in San Antonio, Texas, United States.

According to court records, Colin Christian King was found guilty of killing Shane Bourret, a Georgia resident who had traveled to San Antonio for work in 2019. King and Bourret were colleagues and had been renting property together at the time of the incident.

Bourret disappeared in early May 2019, sparking concern among his family and co-workers. His wife, who remained in Georgia, told deputies during the investigation that King had previously threatened her husband. This information became a central part of the inquiry as investigators worked to piece together what happened in the days leading to Bourret’s disappearance.

As the case developed, investigators uncovered additional evidence pointing toward King. A threatening voicemail allegedly left by King was discovered during the investigation. In addition, an arrest report showed that King had sent a text message to his supervisor, in which he wrote that he would “end” Bourret if he saw him. These findings were later presented in court and contributed to the jury’s decision.

After hearing testimony and reviewing the evidence, the court found King guilty of murder. His conviction was confirmed ahead of the sentencing phase of the trial.

King is scheduled to appear in Bexar County court at 1:30 p.m. today, where a judge will issue the final sentence in the case. The sentencing marks the latest development in a legal process that began more than five years ago, following Bourret’s disappearance in San Antonio.

The case has drawn significant attention due to its disturbing details, the nature of the threats, and the lengthy legal proceedings that followed. Authorities have emphasized that today’s sentencing will formally conclude the trial phase of the case.
