Tragic Crash on Interstate 10 Claims Life of Male Driver in San Antonio

Fatal Collision on I-10 Shuts Down Traffic for Hours

In San Antonio, Texas, a tragic vehicle collision early Sunday morning resulted in the death of a male driver, police confirmed. The incident occurred just before 6:30 a.m. on the 6000 block of Interstate 10, near Vance Jackson Road, and involved two vehicles.

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), officers responded to multiple reports concerning a silver Infiniti G35 that was stalled in the main lanes of the interstate. Just moments later, a Toyota Tundra collided with the rear of the stalled vehicle. Witnesses reported that the truck driver could not see the Infiniti in time to avoid the crash.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and reported the accident to the authorities. SAPD stated that he cooperated fully with the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The driver of the Infiniti was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to ascertain his identity, as well as the cause and manner of death.

Traffic Disruptions Due to Investigation

The crash led to significant traffic disruptions, with the eastbound main lanes of I-10 being closed for approximately five hours while officers conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. The Texas Department of Transportation assisted in managing the resulting traffic congestion during this period.

As the investigation progresses, SAPD has confirmed that they are working to gather further details about the incident. The authorities urge anyone with additional information to contact them as they continue to look into the factors contributing to this fatal crash.

This incident underscores the potential dangers posed by stalled vehicles on busy highways and serves as a reminder for drivers to remain vigilant in their surroundings.

As of now, SAPD has not released further information regarding potential charges or any additional developments related to the incident.
