Philadelphia Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Triple Shooting at City Intersection

On Thursday, police stated that 33-year-old Shomari Betancourt faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and additional related offenses. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Roberts Avenue and Stokley Street.
Betancourt, who was also wounded during the shooting, was taken into custody the same day after arriving at Nazareth Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left arm. Authorities noted that he was detained due to an outstanding warrant linked to a domestic assault case.
According to police, the shooting left a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head; he was listed in critical condition at Temple University Hospital. Another victim, a 23-year-old man, sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was reported to be in stable condition.
A third individual, a 33-year-old man, was shot in the face and arrived at Roxborough Memorial Hospital around 6:15 a.m., police said.
The incident was one of several acts of gun violence in Philadelphia over the weekend. From Friday through Sunday, three people were killed and another 15 were injured in various shootings across the city.
Additionally, on Wednesday, five people were shot outside a recreation center in West Philadelphia, an area filled with children at the time. Police are currently searching for multiple suspects in that case.
