Bengaluru Teen’s Nightmare Unraveled in Shocking Extortion Plot
A chilling tale of betrayal and coercion has surfaced in Bengaluru, where a 16-year-old boy fell prey to a sinister scheme orchestrated by a group of minors. Lured through social media connections, the Class 10 student was ambushed in a deserted parking lot near Wilson Garden on April 5. What began as a casual meetup turned into a harrowing ordeal as the group assaulted him, forced him to strip, and recorded a humiliating video. They compounded his trauma by coercing a false confession, making him claim he had filmed nude videos of girls and extorted money.
The perpetrators, none of whom were schoolmates or local acquaintances, demanded ₹10,000, threatening to splash the video across social media if he didn’t comply. They issued dire warnings against telling his mother or approaching the police, leaving the teen trapped in fear. That day, he had told his mother he was stepping out for lunch, but upon returning, the weight of the ordeal spilled out. Yet, fear of retaliation delayed her action, and it wasn’t until April 25 that she filed a police complaint, setting the wheels of justice in motion.
The police have since launched a robust investigation, charging the accused under laws covering extortion, assault, wrongful restraint, and violations of the IT Act and POCSO Act. Whispers of a deeper plot linger, with investigators exploring whether a girl known to the victim might have masterminded the scheme. The delay in reporting has also raised questions, as authorities piece together the events that left a young boy scarred.
This disturbing incident shines a spotlight on the dark corners of social media, where trust can be weaponized, and minors can wield power with devastating consequences. As Bengaluru grapples with this unsettling case, it serves as a stark reminder for parents and teens alike to navigate online connections with caution, lest a single misstep leads to a nightmare.
