ISRO Makes History with 100th Mission as GSLV Successfully Launches Navigation Satellite
ISRO has achieved another historic milestone with the successful launch of its 100th mission, further solidifying India’s presence in space exploration. On Wednesday, the GSLV-F15 rocket lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, carrying the navigation satellite NVS-02 into orbit. This mission is particularly significant as it marks the first under ISRO’s new chairman, V. Narayanan, and also serves as the agency’s inaugural launch of the year.
Following an extensive 27.30-hour countdown, the towering 50.9-meter GSLV-F15 ascended into the sky at 6:23 AM, leaving a dazzling trail of smoke in its wake. This achievement builds upon the success of the GSLV-F12 mission on May 29, 2023, which deployed NVS-01, the first in ISRO’s second-generation navigation satellite series.
NVS-02 is designed to enhance key applications such as terrestrial, aerial, and maritime navigation, precision agriculture, fleet management, mobile-based location services, satellite orbit determination, IoT applications, and emergency response systems. Its advanced features will significantly contribute to India’s space-based navigation infrastructure, benefiting multiple industries and improving location-based services for everyday users.
With this landmark mission, ISRO continues to drive technological advancements and innovation in the space sector. The successful deployment of NVS-02 reinforces India's growing prominence in global space exploration. As ISRO gears up for even more ambitious projects, this achievement lays a strong foundation for an exciting and promising future in India’s space journey.
