Class 10 Girl Fatally Pushed Off Rooftop by Monkey in Bihar
A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Bihar’s Siwan district when a Class 10 girl, Priya Kumar, lost her life after being pushed off the rooftop of her home by a monkey. The tragedy occurred on a chilly Saturday afternoon in Maghar village, under Bhagwanpur police station, leaving the community in shock and raising serious concerns about the growing human-wildlife conflict in the region.
Priya, a dedicated student preparing for her upcoming matriculation exams, was studying on the rooftop while enjoying the winter sun. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of monkeys appeared on the rooftop, harassing and intimidating her. Overwhelmed by fear, Priya was unable to escape immediately.
Amidst the commotion created by villagers trying to scare the monkeys away, Priya gathered her courage and ran toward the stairs. Tragically, one of the monkeys aggressively jumped at her, pushing her off the rooftop with significant force. Priya sustained severe injuries, including critical trauma to her head and other parts of her body, rendering her unconscious on impact.
Her family rushed her to Siwan Sadar Hospital in a desperate attempt to save her life. Unfortunately, doctors declared her dead on arrival, citing multiple injuries as the cause of death.
Sujeet Kumar Chaudhary, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhagwanpur police station, confirmed the incident and shared insights from the investigation. "The family admitted the girl to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her passing due to severe injuries. The family has declined a post-mortem and has not filed any official complaint," he stated.
Villagers, shaken by the tragedy, revealed that the monkey menace in the area has been an ongoing issue. Repeated disturbances and aggressive behavior from the primates have sparked fear among residents, with this fatal incident being the most severe consequence yet.
The loss of Priya Kumar has left her family and the entire community devastated. As they mourn her untimely demise, the incident has drawn attention to the urgent need for addressing human-wildlife conflicts in regions where such encounters are becoming increasingly frequent.
This tragic story serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by unchecked wildlife interference in residential areas. Communities and authorities must collaborate to implement preventive measures, ensuring the safety of both humans and animals.
A Call for Change
Priya’s tragic passing underscores the pressing need to address the coexistence challenges between humans and wildlife. Awareness, action, and preventive strategies can make a significant difference in ensuring that no family endures such a devastating loss again.
