Construction Crews Make Rapid Progress on 10,000-Seat Multipurpose Stadium

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma — Structural foundations and site grading advanced rapidly in October 2026 across the construction footprint of Oklahoma City’s $121-million MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium. Located on a nine-acre parcel just south of Bricktown near the Oklahoma River, the modern 10,000-seat outdoor sporting venue is progressing on schedule toward its planned opening in January 2028.

Backed by $41 million in dedicated MAPS 4 penny-sales-tax funds alongside 2025 General Obligation bonds, tax increment financing, and private investment from Echo Investment Capital, the stadium will serve as the permanent home for OKC’s professional USL Championship soccer franchise. Additionally, city officials confirmed the venue is contracted to host a newly announced United Football League (UFL) team beginning in spring 2028.

Mayor Holt Celebrates Oklahoma City Entering Global Top 100 Sports Destinations

Highlighting the transformative economic impact of civic sports investments, Mayor David Holt announced that Oklahoma City officially broke into the global rankings of the world’s top 100 sports cities, earning the No. 86 ranking internationally. Holt attributed the global recognition to the city's sustained, voter-supported MAPS investments, world-class whitewater and rowing facilities along the Oklahoma River, the enduring success of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, and preparations for the 2028 Olympic canoe and softball events.

The mayor emphasized that investing in first-class athletic and entertainment infrastructure drives international tourism, enhances civic pride, and attracts private commercial investment throughout the downtown core.
