Oklahoma City MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium Ramps Up as Continental Coliseum Foundation Pours Concrete
MAPS 4 $121 Million Multipurpose Stadium Advances South of Bricktown
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma — Advancing a transformative sports and entertainment anchor for the downtown district, heavy structural construction accelerated in October 2026 on the $121 million MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium. Located on a nine-acre site immediately south of Bricktown on the former Producers Cooperative Cotton Mill property, the Populous-designed, 10,000-seat outdoor stadium is on schedule for scheduled completion in 2028.
Funded completely debt-free through the voter-approved MAPS 4 penny sales tax, municipal bonds, and private partnerships, the modern venue will host professional soccer as the permanent home of the OKC United USL Championship club, alongside open-air concerts, high school athletics championships, and community exhibitions.
Continental Coliseum Pours Deep Caissons and Pier Caps for New Thunder Arena
Just blocks away, construction reached a major structural milestone on the $1 billion Continental Coliseum, the future home of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. Foundation teams completed deep caisson drilling and poured reinforced concrete pier caps on the former Myriad Convention Center site. Designed by Manica Architecture, the venue features a signature 360-degree glass facade and the 'Thunder Alley' pedestrian plaza, keeping the project firmly on target for opening ahead of the 2028–2029 NBA season.
City leaders reaffirmed that both landmark sports venues will catalyze hundreds of millions of dollars in private hospitality, retail, and multifamily development across the central business district.
OKC Streetcar Makes Zero-Fare Transit Permanent After 71% Rider Growth
Facilitating seamless downtown mobility between Bricktown, Scissortail Park, and the arena construction sites, regional transit agency EMBARK officially made the OKC Streetcar permanently fare-free following a pilot program that generated an impressive 71 percent surge in ridership. Concurrently, EMBARK prepared fall system enhancements scheduled for October 25, 2026, improving bus frequency and network safety across the metropolitan area. Mayor David Holt praised the synchronized investments, emphasizing that walkable amenities and free transit make Oklahoma City an increasingly vibrant destination.
