Three Dead, Seven Rescued After Boat Capsizes on Geneva Lake During Storm
Three individuals lost their lives and seven others were rescued after a boat capsized on Geneva Lake, Wisconsin, amid severe storms on Friday. The incident occurred as strong winds and heavy rain swept through the area, leading to significant damage in Walworth County, including toppled trees and downed power lines, according to Tom Hausner, undersheriff for the Walworth County Sheriff’s department.
Lake Geneva Mayor Todd Krause declared a state of emergency, noting that one person sustained minor injuries from a falling tree. Emergency responders faced challenges due to obstructed roads, as power lines and trees blocked access. The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the area, with forecasts indicating continued rain and thunderstorms over the holiday weekend. Police are currently investigating the incident.
