San Diego California Temple to Open for Public Tours Starting June 18

The San Diego California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will open its doors for public tours beginning June 18, 2026. The open house is expected to attract over 350,000 visitors over a three-week period, offering a rare glimpse into the temple's sacred spaces following extensive renovations.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the temple's four floors, including the Baptistry, the Bride’s Room, and the Celestial Room, which features soaring ceilings and newly installed stained glass windows. The renovations included updates to the building's ventilation systems and new furnishings throughout.

Local church leaders, including Elder Neil Andersen, emphasized the significance of the temple's reopening for the nearly 50,000 members in the surrounding communities. The temple, a prominent landmark in San Diego County, will close to the public after the open house and will be accessible only to church members following a rededication ceremony on August 18, 2026.

Photography inside the temple will be prohibited during the tours, but visitors can capture images of the newly landscaped grounds. The open house presents a unique opportunity for both church members and the general public to learn more about the temple's importance and history.
