Former College Soccer Player's Body Recovered Near La Jolla Shores Beach
The body of Bryn Waite, a 26-year-old former college soccer player, was discovered floating offshore near La Jolla Shores Beach in San Diego, California, on July 22. Emergency responders were alerted to the scene around 9:30 a.m. local time, where Waite was pronounced dead. The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office is currently investigating the cause of death, which has not yet been determined.
Waite, who played as a defender for Central Washington University in 2018 and 2019, was remembered by her father as an incredibly thoughtful and loving individual. The university's athletic department expressed their condolences, highlighting her passion for serving others and her recent plans to start a new chapter in San Diego with her fiancé after graduating with a psychology degree in 2021.
According to the San Diego Police Department, if the Medical Examiner's Office concludes that her death was a homicide, the Homicide Team will take over the investigation. As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and further details are pending.
