Minnesota Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of Teen Who Crashed Car Into North Mankato Townhome

A 17-year-old boy died late Saturday night after being shot and crashing a vehicle into a townhouse in North Mankato, Minnesota. Local police are currently investigating the incident and seeking assistance from the public to identify a vehicle of interest.

According to the North Mankato Police Department, officers responded to the area of Pleasant View Drive and Willow Lane at approximately 11 p.m. after residents reported hearing gunshots. Shortly after the reports, a vehicle crashed into a nearby townhome located off Willow Trail. Responding officers discovered the teenage victim inside the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a Mankato hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators stated they do not believe the shooting was a random act. Police are asking residents in the neighborhoods surrounding Pleasant View Drive and Northridge Drive to review their home surveillance footage. Specifically, investigators are searching for any footage capturing a silver 2021 Chevrolet Impala.
