Three Additional Suspects Apprehended in Connection With February Shooting in San Jose

Three men wanted in connection with a February shooting inside a downtown San Jose business have been arrested, police announced Thursday. The arrests of Isaac Ortiz-Guerrero, Marteis Sims, and Gabriel Martinez on May 14 follow the initial arrest of the suspected shooter, Sean James Jr., who was detained at the scene of the Feb. 15 incident.

According to the San Jose Police Department, the shooting occurred around 12:45 a.m. inside a business in the first block of South Second Street. Police said a man was arguing with the suspects when James allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him multiple times. Employees restrained James until officers arrived, and police recovered a privately-made firearm at the scene. The victim survived with non-life-threatening injuries, while the other three suspects fled before officers arrived.

Gang investigations detectives later identified the fleeing suspects. On May 14, police arrested Sims in San Leandro, while Ortiz-Guerrero and Martinez were apprehended in San Jose. During the execution of search warrants, detectives reportedly recovered gang indicia, evidence related to the shooting, and an illegal firearm at Ortiz-Guerrero's residence.

All four suspects are currently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. James faces charges of attempted murder and firearm-related offenses, while Ortiz-Guerrero, Sims, and Martinez are held on suspicion of attempted murder. Police ask anyone with information to contact Detectives Moreno or Guevara of the Gang Investigations Unit.
