Two Boston Men Arrested Following Armed Home Invasion in Saugus

Saugus police arrested two Boston men Sunday following a daylight home invasion where shots were fired. Officers responded to a neighborhood in Saugus after residents called 911 to report hearing gunfire. According to authorities, the suspects were wearing masks and black clothing while armed with handguns during the break-in.

Police identified the suspects as Derek Matarazzo and Timothy Gregory . A witness in the area reported seeing an armed man standing in the street aiming a weapon at a residence, while another individual was seen carrying a safe through a yard. Witnesses also reported seeing someone exit the home and return fire. Despite the exchange of gunshots, Saugus police confirmed that no injuries were reported.

Matarazzo and Gregory face several felony charges, including home invasion. Investigators stated that the two men were the only suspects involved and characterized the event as an isolated incident. Officials noted there is no ongoing threat to the public, though a specific motive for the home invasion has not been released.

Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Lynn District Court. Saugus is located in Essex County, approximately 12 miles north of Boston.
