Six Men, Including Rapper Lil Zay Osama, Charged in Winnetka Home Invasion and Kidnapping Case
Federal authorities have charged six men, including rapper Lil Zay Osama, in connection with a home invasion and kidnapping that took place in Winnetka on March 8. The indictment alleges that the group, some of whom were armed, forced their way into a residence after one suspect posed as a food delivery driver. Prosecutors say the intruders held a victim captive for about an hour, using firearms to physically restrain the individual and demanding access to a safe, computer, and online cryptocurrency accounts.
The U.S. Attorney's Office announced the charges Tuesday, following an investigation involving the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Winnetka police. The six men charged are Isaiah Dukes, 28, known as Lil Zay Osama and now living in Los Angeles; Dashun Brown, 24; David Franklin, 24; Anthony Ramsey, 22, all of Chicago; Khiell Dukes, 30, of Elgin; and Jalen Chambers, 24, of Bourbonnais. A seventh man was arrested Tuesday morning, with charges pending, officials said.
Prosecutors allege that after the home invasion, the suspects met with additional co-conspirators to ensure all proceeds from the robbery were collected. Court records show that Brown, Ramsey, and Franklin were taken into federal custody on March 22, while Osama, Dukes, and Chambers were arrested on April 10. Each defendant has pleaded not guilty and has been ordered detained. The case is being heard by U.S. District Judge Iain Johnston in Rockford. The investigation remains ongoing.
