Mother and Six Children Die in Central Pennsylvania House Explosion
Seven members of a single family, including a mother and her six children, lost their lives on Sunday morning after an explosion and fire destroyed their home in Lamar Township, near Mill Hall, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred in Clinton County, where emergency crews responded to reports of a blast at the residence.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the victims were identified as Sarah Stolzfus, age 34, along with her four sons, ages 11, 10, 5, and 3, and two daughters, ages 8 and 6. Upon arrival, firefighters found the home engulfed in flames and were unable to enter the building to perform a rescue; all seven trapped individuals were confirmed dead.
Authorities stated that a propane leak inside the house is being investigated as a possible cause of the explosion and subsequent fire. Police emphasized that the home's exterior propane tanks did not explode and were not contributing factors in the incident.
Local residents reported feeling and hearing the explosion. Neighbor Christina Duck told reporters she heard a loud boom while eating breakfast and saw the house quickly consumed by flames. She noted the family had recently moved into the area and often saw the children playing outdoors.
Investigators are continuing to examine the fire's origin. As of Monday, the official cause remains undetermined, and the investigation is ongoing.
