San Antonio Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting in Northwest Side Home

San Antonio police have charged a 21-year-old man with murder following the shooting death of a woman at a residence on the city's Northwest Side earlier this week. The incident occurred Monday at a home located in the 1000 block of Donaldson Avenue.

Officers identified the suspect as Aaron Arocha, who was taken into custody after the death of Sheri Tolosa, 44. According to court documents, Tolosa was found in the home's kitchen with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators recovered five shell casings from the property, including some in the dining room, where evidence suggests Tolosa attempted to flee from her assailant.

The investigation began after family members raised concerns about the occupants' welfare, prompting police to return to the home after an earlier check yielded no signs of trouble. Subsequent interviews revealed that relatives became aware of the shooting before police discovered Tolosa's body. One relative told investigators that Arocha had sent a video referencing an injury and later called to apologize to the victim before the incident.

Authorities tracked Arocha as he traveled from Houston back to San Antonio and arrested him on unrelated charges Tuesday. A search of his vehicle uncovered a box of .380 caliber ammunition matching the rounds used in the crime. Further, a family member interviewed by police reported that Arocha admitted to the shooting and referenced religious motivations, stating he felt compelled to act but acknowledged that Tolosa had done nothing to provoke the attack.

Jail and court records confirm Arocha is being held at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $500,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 14. The case remains under investigation.
