City Council Adopts $4.4 Billion Municipal Budget for Fiscal Year 2027

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Navigating challenging economic headwinds while preserving essential neighborhood investments, the San Antonio City Council adopted a comprehensive $4.4 billion municipal operating and capital budget for Fiscal Year 2026–2027 in late September 2026. The adopted spending plan reinforces fiscal discipline across city departments while steadfastly protecting frontline emergency services, street maintenance, and municipal parks.

Central to the approved budget is the sustained deployment of capital from San Antonio's historic 2022 Housing Bond. The municipal plan allocates more than $20 million in dedicated housing funds to finance shovel-ready affordable multi-family developments, provide critical home repair grants for senior homeowners on the Westside and Southside, and support permanent supportive housing initiatives to combat chronic homelessness.

VIA Green Line Advanced Rapid Transit Corridor Advances Engineering

Concurrently, VIA Metropolitan Transit achieved critical pre-construction engineering milestones on the Green Line Advanced Rapid Transit (ART) corridor.
