No New Domestic Violence Charges for Reality TV Star Taylor Frankie Paul in Utah Case
Taylor Frankie Paul, known for her appearances on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and a scrapped season of “The Bachelorette,” will not face additional domestic violence charges in recent incidents involving her former partner, according to the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office.
Authorities in Draper City and West Jordan investigated multiple allegations stemming from confrontations this year and in February between Paul and her ex-partner, Dakota Mortensen, with whom she shares a young son. Both Paul and Mortensen have accused each other of domestic violence, and each has filed for protective orders currently under court review.
A memo from the prosecutor’s office explained that recent complaints either did not meet the threshold for criminal charges or lacked sufficient evidence. Additionally, some incidents occurred over three years ago and have surpassed the statute of limitations for prosecution.
Paul is presently serving probation following a 2023 plea deal connected to an assault on Mortensen, an incident that featured leaked video footage showing Paul acting violently in front of her daughter. As part of her plea, Paul’s conviction may be reduced to a misdemeanor if she complies with probation terms, which are set to expire in August. Any new charges could have jeopardized her standing in the existing probation arrangement.
The ongoing legal dispute has led to temporary restrictions on Paul’s visitation with her son, currently allowed only under supervision. The outcome of competing protective order requests will be considered in a court hearing scheduled for April 30. Attorneys for both parents have presented conflicting accounts of the events and submitted evidence including photos and video footage of alleged altercations.
Officials noted that the dropped charges have no immediate impact on the existing protective order against Paul. The broader legal proceedings continue, with the next court date later this month and no further criminal action filed against Paul as of now.
