Pedestrian Killed in Near West Side Collision Involving Teen Driver

A 43-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle on the Near West Side of Chicago on Sunday night, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. in the 10-100 block of South Ashland Avenue. Police reported that a 17-year-old female was driving eastbound on Ogden Avenue in a silver SUV when she collided with the woman, who was crossing the street against the signal.

Officials said the victim suffered head trauma and was transported to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Investigators noted that a witness at the scene corroborated the teenage driver’s account, stating that the SUV had a green light and the right of way at the time of the collision.

As of Monday, authorities confirmed that no citations are pending in connection with the case. Area Three Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
