Three Charged Over Arson Attack on Jewish Ambulances in North London
Three men have been charged following an arson attack that targeted Jewish community ambulances in north London on March 23. The incident, which took place near a synagogue in the Golders Green area, drew condemnation from across the political spectrum, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who called the act a "horrific" example of anti-Semitic violence.
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that the suspects, aged 20, 19, and 17, face charges of arson with intent to damage property and acting recklessly as to whether life would be endangered. According to authorities, two of the accused are British nationals, while the third holds British and Pakistani citizenship.
The investigation is being led by counter-terrorism officers. However, officials have stated that the incident is not currently being treated as terrorism. The multinational militant group known as the Islamic Movement of the People of the Right Hand, which is aligned with Iran, has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, according to SITE Intelligence. Authorities have not commented on the credibility of this claim.
The three defendants were scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Saturday. No injuries have been reported in connection with the attack. Police have indicated that the investigation remains ongoing.
