Second Suspect Arrested in Brooklyn Shooting That Killed 7-Month-Old Kaori Patterson-Moore

Police apprehended an 18-year-old man in Pennsylvania on Friday in connection with the fatal shooting of a 7-month-old baby on a Brooklyn street, marking a second arrest in a case that has drawn widespread shock and condemnation.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) announced the arrest of Matthew Rodriguez, who was taken into custody by NYPD detectives and U.S. Marshals. Rodriguez is believed to have been involved in the events surrounding the death of Kaori Patterson-Moore, who died Wednesday when gunfire erupted on a Brooklyn sidewalk.

The alleged shooter, Amuri Greene, 21, was arrested shortly after the incident. Authorities say Greene, riding on the back of a moped, fired into a group of people at a street corner in a drive-by attack. Kaori was struck while in her stroller; her 2-year-old brother was grazed by a bullet but survived. According to court documents, Greene admitted he was targeting another person in the crowd. He has pleaded not guilty to murder and related charges and is being held without bail.

Kaori's mother, who recounted the moment to local media, described frantically attempting to comfort her son before discovering her infant daughter had been shot. The family had been out walking when the shooting occurred.

Police said that after the gunfire, the moped carrying the suspects crashed two blocks away, ejecting both men. Greene was hospitalized and taken into police custody, while the second suspect fled until Friday's arrest.

As of Friday evening, charges against Rodriguez were pending, and authorities had not released further details about his alleged role. Officials have not indicated they are searching for any other suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
