Three Teenagers Arrested After 14-Year-Old Shot Dead in Woolwich
Three teenagers have been taken into custody on suspicion of murder after a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot on Lord Warwick Street in the Woolwich area of southeast London on Thursday afternoon, authorities confirmed.
The Metropolitan Police reported that officers responded to calls of a shooting at approximately 3:40pm on June 6. When emergency services arrived, they discovered the victim, who was initially described as a man but later identified as a 14-year-old boy. Despite efforts at the scene, the boy died as a result of his injuries.
The suspects, two boys aged 14 and 16 and an 18-year-old man, were arrested in connection with the killing. The identities of those involved have not been released. Police stated that an increased presence remains in the Woolwich area as the investigation continues to gather evidence and reassure residents.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card appealed to the public for assistance, encouraging anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage related to the incident to come forward. She acknowledged the distress that the shooting has caused in the local community and stressed that inquiries were advancing rapidly.
As of Friday, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing, and police have urged anyone with relevant information to contact officers.
