Three People, Including Child, Injured in Douglas Drive-By Shooting
Three people, among them an 8-year-old girl, were wounded in a drive-by shooting Wednesday afternoon in the Douglas neighborhood of Chicago, according to police.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:48 p.m. in the 3400 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Chicago police reported that a dark SUV approached the area before at least one occupant opened fire at a group of people standing nearby.
The child suffered a gunshot wound to her foot and was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she is listed in good condition, authorities confirmed. A 28-year-old woman was shot in the knee and is being treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center, also in good condition. A 24-year-old man received wounds to his arm, chest, and groin; he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where police said he is likewise in good condition.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting as of Wednesday evening, and police have not released information on possible suspects. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack remains ongoing, part of a broader pattern of gun violence affecting city neighborhoods.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact law enforcement as detectives continue to search for those responsible.
