Army Launches Review After Kid Rock Films Apache Helicopters Outside Tennessee Home
The U.S. Army has initiated an administrative review after singer and rapper Kid Rock posted videos showing AH-64 Apache helicopters flying near his home outside Nashville, Tennessee, the military confirmed Monday.
According to Maj. Montrell Russell, an Army spokesperson, the videos, which appeared on Kid Rock’s social media accounts on Saturday, prompted a formal assessment. The footage depicted two Army helicopters operating in the vicinity of Kid Rock’s property, with one clip capturing a helicopter hovering close to his poolside, as he saluted the pilots. The home, known as the “Southern White House,” is a 27,000-square-foot residence the musician built in the Nashville area. In another video, Kid Rock is seen enthusiastically acknowledging the pilots as a second helicopter flies past.
Army officials confirmed the aircraft were engaged in a training mission. “Army aviators must adhere to strict safety standards, professionalism, and established flight regulations,” Russell said in a statement, adding that the ongoing review will verify compliance with regulations and determine if any violations occurred. Maj. Jonathon Bless, representing the 101st Airborne Division, noted that the Division takes all concerns about aircraft operations and community impact seriously, and has opened an investigation into the incident.
Army representatives have not specified the purpose of the training flight or why it included maneuvers outside Kid Rock’s property. It also remains unclear whether the appearance at the musician’s residence was incidental or deliberate, according to division officials. The Army’s review is ongoing, with potential administrative action depending on the results of the investigation.
