Backlash Targets Zohran Mamdani After Mother Is Named in Newly Released Epstein Records

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani faced heckling outside Gracie Mansion after newly released Jeffrey Epstein–related documents mentioned his mother, filmmaker Mira Nair.

A small group of protesters gathered near the mayoral residence, with one individual using a megaphone to accuse Mamdani of misleading voters, shouting that they were aware of his mother’s appearance in the documents. The group later chanted “shame” as tensions escalated.

The references stem from a Department of Justice document release that noted Nair’s attendance at an afterparty hosted by Ghislaine Maxwell in connection with her film Amelia. No allegations of wrongdoing involving Nair were included in the files.
