Man Charged After 10-Year-Old Girl Shot During Alleged Road Rage Incident on San Antonio’s Northwest Side

Road Rage Shooting Reported Near Timberhill Drive and Wurzbach Road

Bryan Arceo, 41, was taken into custody and booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Friday afternoon in connection with the shooting of a 10-year-old girl during an alleged road rage incident on San Antonio’s Northwest Side.

According to an arrest affidavit, Arceo allegedly fired a handgun from his vehicle at a family van carrying a father, mother and their 10-year-old daughter near Timberhill Drive and Wurzbach Road on Friday. The document states that Arceo was driving a gray Nissan Murano and backed out of a private driveway in the 4300 block of Timber Hill, cutting off the family’s vehicle as it traveled southbound on Timberhill approaching Wurzbach Road.

Sequence of Events Described in Affidavit

The affidavit states the mother honked her horn at Arceo after he cut off the family’s vehicle. It further states that he then brake-checked the vehicle and later pulled alongside it at a red light, where the mother reported that he pointed a handgun at her.

According to the document, the mother turned right and sped up after hearing a loud “pop.” The father, who was in the passenger seat, told investigators he smelled gunpowder. The 10-year-old girl, seated in the back right seat, told her parents she had been shot, the affidavit states. Officers found a live 9mm round at the scene of the shooting, according to the document.

The affidavit also states that Arceo made an illegal turn and ended up behind the family’s vehicle. The family then followed the suspect for several blocks before Arceo stopped and exited his vehicle while holding a handgun, the document indicates. The family drove around his vehicle and fled the area.

Witness Accounts and Surveillance Footage

Both the mother and father told investigators that Arceo was alone in the front seat of his vehicle during the incident. However, the affidavit states that Arceo’s ex-wife reported to police that she and her daughter were passengers in his vehicle at the time of the shooting.

The affidavit states that Arceo’s ex-wife told authorities she saw him point the gun at the family’s van and rack the slide before firing. She reported hearing a “pop” after looking away. According to the document, Arceo’s ex-wife was dropped off at her workplace after the incident, and surveillance footage shows Arceo dropping off the child at a nearby school shortly afterward. The ex-wife also confirmed to authorities that Arceo carries a silver and black handgun.

Charges Filed Against Suspect

Court records show that Arceo faces four charges in connection with the reported road rage shooting. These include three counts of aggravated assault for recklessly discharging a firearm, which are classified as first-degree felonies, and one count of child endangerment, classified as a state jail felony.

Arceo was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Friday afternoon following his arrest. The affidavit and court records form the documented basis for the charges related to the incident near Timberhill Drive and Wurzbach Road in San Antonio.
