Two Teens Killed in Early-Morning Shooting in South Charlotte
Two Fatalities Reported in South Charlotte Shooting
Two people were killed after a shooting early Saturday morning in south Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police identified the victims as 18-year-old Samir Molina and 16-year-old Bravilo Ayala. Detectives stated that both individuals were shot along Farmhurst Drive in south Charlotte. After being shot, they traveled away from the location of the incident in an effort to find help.
Victims Located at Gas Station and Hospital
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers said they found one of the shooting victims with life-threatening injuries around 3:30 a.m. at an Exxon gas station along East Woodlawn Road. Emergency responders transported this victim to a hospital, where the individual died.
At approximately the same time, officers were called to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center around 3:30 a.m. for a reported assault with a deadly weapon. Police said the second victim was dropped off at the hospital with gunshot wounds. Medical staff later pronounced this victim dead.
Identification and Notification of Families
Authorities confirmed that the deceased individuals are Samir Molina and Bravilo Ayala. Officials reported that family members of both Molina and Ayala have been notified of their deaths.
Ongoing Investigation
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department stated that the investigation into the south Charlotte shooting is ongoing. Detectives are continuing to gather information related to the incident that occurred along Farmhurst Drive and the subsequent responses at the Exxon gas station on East Woodlawn Road and Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center.
