Man Charged With Murder in Quincy Apartment Death
A 34-year-old Massachusetts man, Guiovani G. Garcia Chagollan, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, 26-year-old Ahtziri Y. Cardenas-Torreros, in Quincy, Massachusetts, over the weekend, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.
Authorities said the incident occurred inside an apartment at 500 Falls Boulevard in Quincy. Police were first called to the location around 11 p.m. by a caller who reported that someone was dead and another person was harming themself with a knife. When officers arrived, they found both Cardenas-Torreros and Garcia Chagollan inside the apartment with stab wounds.
Cardenas-Torreros was pronounced dead at the scene. Garcia Chagollan suffered serious injuries. Officials have accused Garcia Chagollan of killing Cardenas-Torreros and have charged him with first-degree murder in connection with her death.
Hospital Arraignment and Court Proceedings
Following the incident, Garcia Chagollan was transported for medical treatment. He was arraigned from his hospital bed at Boston Medical Center on Monday. During the arraignment, the court ordered that he be held without bail.
A probable cause hearing for Garcia Chagollan has been scheduled for January 14. No additional charges were specified in the information released. Few further details about the events inside the apartment have been made public at this time.
