Man Detained After Early-Morning Incident on San Antonio's West Side

Police detained a 40-year-old man early Saturday morning on San Antonio's West Side following a report of a domestic assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the 5400 block of Ergill Lane.

Officers were dispatched to the location at approximately 3:36 a.m. after a 45-year-old woman called police. She reported that her boyfriend had assaulted her and stolen her vehicle. The incident took place in the area identified as the city's West Side.

Officers Respond to Reported Assault and Vehicle Theft

When officers arrived at the 5400 block of Ergill Lane, the 45-year-old woman provided them with information about a possible secondary location where she believed the suspect was traveling. Based on this information, police proceeded to the indicated area to continue their search.

Police located the vehicle that the woman had reported as stolen. The discovery of the vehicle occurred after officers responded to the additional location provided by the woman. The vehicle was confirmed as the one involved in the reported unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Suspect Located and Detained by Police

The suspect, identified as a 40-year-old man with a previous conviction related to family violence, was found running from the location where the vehicle was recovered. Officers detained him at that time. Authorities did not provide additional details about the circumstances of the detention beyond confirming that he was taken into custody.

The police response, which began with the early-morning call from the 45-year-old woman, led to the location of the reported stolen vehicle and the detention of the 40-year-old suspect. Officials did not release further information about any additional actions taken following the detention.
