A 23-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after two people were shot, one fatally, in the Mission District of San Francisco. The San Francisco Police Department said officers responded at about 12:25 a.m. to the 3000 block of 16th Street after receiving reports of a shooting and two people on the ground following an altercation.
When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided medical aid until paramedics reached the scene. Both victims were transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to police, one of the victims was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities did not release the victims’ names.
Investigators found a firearm at the scene in the Mission District and began gathering information about the shooting. Police said they received information identifying a possible suspect who was believed to be in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood, several miles from the initial crime scene.
Officers searched the area and located the suspect. Police identified him as Larry Hudgson Jr., 23, of San Francisco. He was taken into custody on suspicion of murder in connection with the Mission District shooting. No additional suspects were named.
The San Francisco County Sheriff’s Office reported that Hudgson is being held without bail. A court date for the case has not yet been scheduled. Police did not announce a possible motive and did not release further details about the events leading up to the shooting.
The investigation remains active, and authorities have not disclosed whether surveillance footage, witness statements, or other evidence contributed to identifying Hudgson as the suspect. The San Francisco Police Department urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact investigators.
