Man Sentenced to More Than Twenty Three Years for Deadly Metro Bus Shooting in White Center

A young man has been sentenced to 23 years and four months in prison for a deadly shooting that took place on a King County Metro bus in White Center in October 2023. The case, which shocked the community, has now reached a conclusion with a lengthy prison term handed down.

The Fatal Incident on the Bus

The shooting occurred when Miguel Rivera Dominguez, who was only 17 years old at the time, boarded a Metro bus along with another teenager. The bus had about fifteen passengers when Dominguez suddenly pulled out a handgun and opened fire. His target, 21 year old Marcel Wagner, was killed instantly. Witness accounts and court records indicate that the attack appeared completely random.

Dominguez allegedly shouted at the bus driver to stop and let him off after the shooting. He and the other teenager quickly exited the bus and fled the scene, leaving behind chaos and fear among the passengers.

No Prior Connection Between Victim and Attacker

Investigations and court documents later revealed that Dominguez and Wagner did not know each other before the incident. There was no prior interaction between the two, making the shooting even more senseless and devastating for Wagner’s family and the community.

Turning Himself In

In the month following the attack, Dominguez turned himself in at the King County Sheriff’s Office. He was initially charged with first degree murder, but in July he pleaded guilty to amended charges. This plea eventually led to the sentencing handed down by the court.

On Friday afternoon, the judge sentenced Dominguez to 280 months of confinement followed by three years of community custody. The court also issued a no contact order preventing Dominguez from reaching out to Wagner’s family in any way.
