Giuliani Injured in Highway Collision

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to make a full recovery following a serious two-vehicle crash on Saturday night in New Hampshire. The 81-year-old sustained a fractured spine, cuts, and bruises during the incident.

Family members and his head of security, Michael Ragusa, kept the public informed through social media updates throughout the weekend.

Circumstances Leading to the Crash

According to Ragusa, Giuliani had briefly stopped to assist a woman who flagged him down, claiming she was a victim of domestic violence. After calling 911, Giuliani continued his journey when his vehicle was struck from behind.

“While traveling on the highway, Mayor Giuliani’s vehicle was struck from behind at high speed,” Ragusa posted on X. He added that Giuliani was immediately taken to a nearby trauma center, where doctors confirmed he had fractured a thoracic vertebrae, along with multiple injuries to his arm, leg, and other areas.

Police Account of the Incident

New Hampshire State Police reported that troopers were already responding to a domestic violence call on Interstate 93 just before 10:00 p.m. Saturday when they witnessed the crash.

Authorities said a 19-year-old driving a Honda HRV collided with the back of a Ford Bronco carrying Giuliani and his driver. All three individuals involved were transported to a local hospital.

At present, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.

Family Response and Reassurances

Giuliani’s son, Andrew Giuliani, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, posting on social media Sunday night: “Thank you to all the people that have reached out since learning the news about my Father. Your prayers mean the world.”

Ragusa also addressed speculation, clarifying that the crash was not intentional. “This was not a targeted attack. We ask everyone to respect Mayor Giuliani’s privacy and recovery, and refrain from spreading unfounded conspiracy theories. He sustained injuries but is in good spirits and recovering tremendously,” he wrote.
