An ordinary traffic stop attempt turned into a dangerous and high-speed pursuit that stretched from St. Johns County into the heart of Jacksonville, bringing I-95 traffic to a standstill. The suspect, a woman in her 30s, allegedly refused to pull over for speeding and reckless driving, escalating the situation by swerving toward pursuing deputies and waving a hammer out of her window.

Speeds Soaring Past 100 Miles Per Hour

As the chase intensified, the pursuit reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Officers followed the suspect north on I-95, cutting through Southside and downtown Jacksonville. The aftermath of the chase caused significant delays in both directions on I-95. Adding to the gridlock, severe weather in the area further slowed traffic. Authorities worked to direct drivers to alternate routes, but congestion persisted until lanes gradually reopened later in the afternoon.

Following her arrest, the woman was evaluated for injuries, with no serious harm reported. She now faces multiple felony charges in both St. Johns County and Duval County.
