Trial of Betrayal and Poison Colorado Dentist Faces Jury as Wife’s Mysterious Death Unfolds
Jury Begins Deliberations in Gripping Colorado Murder Trial
Centennial, Colorado – The highly anticipated murder trial of James Craig, a Colorado-based dentist accused of fatally poisoning his wife, Angela Craig, has reached a pivotal point as the jury begins deliberations. The trial, which has captivated public attention with its unsettling details, commenced jury discussions Tuesday afternoon following powerful closing arguments from both the prosecution and the defense.
A Marriage Shattered by Secrets
Prosecutors claim that Craig, 47, sought to escape a failing marriage by plotting his wife’s death using a series of calculated steps. Angela, a 43-year-old mother of six, suffered unexplained health episodes including severe headaches, vomiting, and dizziness before her eventual death on March 18, 2023. According to medical reports, lethal levels of cyanide and tetrahydrozoline—an ingredient found in eyedrops—were discovered in her system, along with significant traces of arsenic.
During closing arguments, the prosecution painted a chilling picture of betrayal, asserting that James Craig deliberately murdered his wife to end their marriage and blamed her for her own demise. They further argued that he attempted to portray Angela as suicidal, even enlisting their daughter to support this narrative.
“Angela Craig was innocent. She had no part in her death,” said lead prosecutor Michael Mauro. “The only person who says otherwise is this man—the one guilty of the ultimate betrayal.”
A Family Torn Apart
Inside the courtroom, the emotional weight of the case was unmistakable. Three of Craig’s children were present during the final arguments, sitting on the prosecution’s side of the courtroom. Craig was seen wiping away tears as the proceedings unfolded.
Two of his daughters testified against him during the trial. One revealed that he tried to persuade her to say her mother wanted him to order the chemicals. She also shared that he instructed her on how to create a fake video using AI to make it appear that Angela was suicidal. Another daughter testified that her mother would not have taken her own life, stating, “We were making plans.”
Chilling Evidence and Alarming Internet Searches
Over the course of two weeks, prosecutors presented testimony from 48 witnesses to build their case. They alleged that Craig secretly purchased cyanide and arsenic online and searched terms like “how to make poison” and “top 5 undetectable poisons that show no signs of foul play.”
Investigators believe Craig tampered with Angela’s protein shakes and pills, even going as far as refilling prescription capsules with cyanide. Further disturbing allegations include an attempt to orchestrate a murder-for-hire plot from jail, targeting a lead investigator and fellow inmates. Craig also allegedly asked others, including a prison inmate and his daughter, to fabricate evidence and provide false testimony.
Defense Paints a Picture of Desperation
Defense attorney Lisa Moses acknowledged Craig’s infidelity and dishonesty but argued that these flaws were not proof of murder. She pointed to Angela’s past journal entries, highlighting moments of deep emotional struggle and suggested that suicide remained a plausible explanation for her death.
“This case is really about broken people, broken marriage, broken perceptions, broken investigation,” said Moses. She urged jurors to question the thoroughness of the investigation and suggested that the authorities were too quick to form a conclusion.
The Jury’s Decision Ahead
Craig has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree murder, solicitation to commit murder, and attempts to tamper with evidence and commit perjury. If found not guilty on the top count, the jury may still consider lesser charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter, or criminally negligent homicide.
The deliberation process now lies in the hands of the jury, who must weigh a complex web of emotional testimony, forensic evidence, and contradictory narratives. The outcome of this case will not only determine Craig’s fate but will also leave a lasting impact on a family already torn apart by tragedy.
